We’ve helped Wayne Rooney raise more than £1.2m for children’s charities.

A testimonial match between Manchester United and Everton netted the funds for the Wayne Rooney Foundation – a significant slice of the £5m it hopes to raise for children’s charities this year.

The Manchester United and England captain set up the foundation to improve the lives of children who face health issues, abuse and educational challenges. We’re a founding and principal partner.

Proceeds from the testimonial will be given to four chosen charities. As well as the NSPCC, three regional charities supported by Wayne and his wife Coleen will benefit: Claire House Children’s Hospice; Alder Hey Children’s Charity; and the Manchester United Foundation.

Wayne says: “I’d like to thank all the fans who came to the testimonial and made it such a special night. They’ve raised a huge amount of money for children who are disadvantaged and it will make a real difference to their lives.”

BT Sport screened the game live. And MyDonate was the official fundraising platform for the testimonial, with both online and text options for donations promoted during the match. Our volunteers manned a call centre on the night to take donations and collected from fans at the game.

Niall Dunne says: “We’re proud to have helped Wayne Rooney raise such a fantastic amount for his foundation and look forward to working together to reach the £5m goal this year.”
