Niall urges sports fans to switch to renewable energy
We’ve joined forces with Sir Ben Ainslie to create a new global movement to tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

Through 100% Sport, we’re giving a unifying voice to sports fans, athletes, teams, clubs and partners around the world to help make using 100 per cent renewable energy the new norm.

We launched the campaign at Climate Week New York, part of the 100% movement promoting renewable energy and positive climate actions.

We’re calling on sports fans to help kick-start the movement and switch to renewable energy to create a better world.

Niall Dunne says: “This campaign is about how sports fans can change the world. When Chelsea played their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on New Year’s Day this year, 1.7m BT Sport customers tuned in. Imagine if just ten per cent of those, a mere fraction of the UK’s football fans, switched to renewable energy. That’s the carbon saving equivalent of taking almost 50,000 cars off the road every year.”

Unique opportunity

Ben hopes to bring to the campaign his first-hand experience of inspiring sporting organisations and fans to live and work more sustainably.

He says: “I believe sport can extend far beyond the race course, the pitch or the court. We have a unique opportunity to harness the power of fans around the world.”
