Retail expansion brings EE closer to customers

EE is strengthening customer service by adding 100 new stores through a partnership with Sainsbury’s.

The move will bring the number of stores to 700 by the end of 2019. It’s part of EE’s aim to give 95 per cent of the UK population access to a store within a 20-minute drive.

Across the UK 400 customer service roles will be created in Sainsbury’s and Argos stores. Pop-up shops and cabins will feature in shopping centres, and mobile shops in vans will serve customers in the most remote areas.

New store layouts and services will enhance in-store customer experience. EE will trial video calling to specialist customer service teams and provide like-for-like smartphone loans to customers while their handsets are being repaired.

And EE showcase stores will contain dedicated help hubs for customer service and areas to experience new technologies such as Google Home, Apple Watch and Samsung virtual reality headsets.

Marc Allera says: “We provide our customers with some of the best customer service of any mobile operator in the UK, and we’ve learned there’s no substitute for getting help from an expert in person.

“I know our customers prefer to talk to real people in our UK and Ireland call centres rather than receiving help from a bot. We’re investing in more people in our customer service teams, more stores for them to serve customers from and exciting new technology that will make the teams even better.”
