"It isn’t all about press screenings and premieres and film set visits here at BT Store. OK, there’s a lot of that and, yes, it’s fun. Selling the latest and best film and TV rentals and buy-to-keep services you’ve got to know what’s coming up and what appeals.

I joined BT Vision (as it was known then) when it was just beginning as a production assistant. It was a risk. No-one else was doing what we were doing. I’d done film studies at uni and jumped at the chance to move into film scheduling. I’m really proud: that I’ve been able to work hard and prove myself, and that we’re seen as a top entertainment provider.

Working with the studios is just part of the job. I also budget, negotiate new and exclusive deals, and work with our legal, finance and marketing teams. Getting to grips with the technical things, like how customers use our app to download to their smartphone or tablet.

And presenting. Sometimes to hundreds of people. Convincing my bosses that brand new services no-one else in the industry is offering will be good for business. I get to speak at conferences about how the industry is changing, too.

Launching our buy-to-keep service was the most challenging thing I’ve done so far. People love it. Every month more and more sign up to watch whatever they want to wherever they are."
