Partnership to provide sports apprenticeships

24 February 2017

Alongside The Royal Foundation and Manchester City, we’re joining forces with sports organisations in the North West, including Manchester United Foundation and Sale Sharks’ Community Trust, to create local full-time apprenticeships.

It’s part of the new Coach Core Team Manchester scheme to develop the next generation of sports coaches and prepare them for career paths within the sports industry. As well as undertaking qualifications and workshops, they’ll get support from a number of mentors.

Prince Harry says: “Manchester is a city full of sporting heroes. I’m pleased that through Coach Core Team Manchester we’ll be creating a group of sports coaches who can in turn inspire other young people from their community.”

As part of the scheme, we’ll select youngsters to be part of our BT Sport team at the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff in June. BT Sport will also work with The Royal Foundation to give support for training and development in media.

Simon Green says: “We’ve been a long-term supporter of many projects that use sport to inspire lives, raising millions of pounds, providing the time of our people to volunteer and raising the profile of good causes via BT Sport programming.

“We’re excited to offer a number of BT Sport opportunities to the youngsters on Coach Core and look forward to growing our partnership with The Royal Foundation.”
