We’re backing Slum Soccer

1 July 2016

Our Supporters Club in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good is working in areas of homelessness and disadvantage in India to support Slum Soccer.

Using a football-based curriculum, Slum Soccer works with 1,500 youngsters in 15 state schools in Chennai. Pupils study lessons and activities to equip them to be leaders of their communities and role models for their peers. On and off the pitch.

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev is a Laureus Academy member. He says Laureus has already achieved a lot. But there’s much more to do.

“Partners such as BT not only help us to do that work, but its credibility and strength adds weight to our belief in the power of sport,” he adds.

Sumit Mitra Managing Director , Central Business Services says says: “India has always been a strategic country for us thanks to availability of skills, flexibility and the quality of employees' work. As we’re growing our operations in India, we’re delighted to collaborate with Laureus Sport for Good and Slum Soccer. And be involved in a project that will help 1,500 children build personal skills.”
