Sports stars turn out for Supporters Club
23 October 2015
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got on his bike for BT Sport’s The Supporters Club.
The England winger and BT Sport ambassador joined pro-BMX rider Shanaze Reade at the launch of our new partnership with award-winning BMX initiative Ignite.
Helping to get young people with disabilities into sport, it’s already created 40 new volunteer-led clubs in London, Manchester and Bristol across 16 sports, trained 320 coaches and engaged 5,300 young people.
The Supporters Club will help a further 1,282 young disabled people aged 14-25 across six London boroughs and in Bristol.
Another winger and BT Sport ambassador has been helping train young people as part of our Urban Rugby Squad.
Former England and Harlequins rugby player Ugo Monye was at Croydon & Streatham rugby club in Surrey for a coaching session recently.
The Urban Rugby Squad is a joint Supporters Club and Premiership Rugby project. It uses rugby as an inspiration to help 14 to 16-year-olds from disadvantaged communities participate in regular sporting activities and personal development workshops.
You can watch a documentary on the Urban Rugby Squad on BT Sport on 1 November at 17:30 (GMT) on BT Sport 1.
