Internet safety campaign urges use
of parental controls

Internet Matters, the online child safety group, has launched a new campaign encouraging the use of parental controls with a series of videos showing children being exposed to violence, sex and cyber-bullying.

The Protect their Curiosity campaign wants to highlight how easy it is for an innocent search of the web to turn sinister. The videos have been designed to be hard-hitting for parents. According to research from Internet Matters, 53% of parents don’t use parental controls, while 58% don’t have any password settings in place on their devices.

£18m raised for Nepal through BT MyDonate

The BT MyDonate Nepal appeal page has handled more than £18m in donations for the UK’s Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC). The money is supporting the relief effort in Nepal where powerful quakes killed almost 9,000 people and injured 22,000 more. BT MyDonate appeal page was set up within hours of the first earthquake, our quickest appeal page delivery ever.

BT MyDonate doesn’t take commission, charge charities for registering or charge a percentage from the total money raised.

The Science Museum’s Information Age gallery

The Science Museum’s Information Age gallery has been selected as one of seven finalists in the Best Heritage Project category of the annual National Lottery Awards, celebrating the UK’s favourite Lottery funded projects. BT is the Lead Principal Sponsor of the Information Age gallery, the first in the UK solely devoted to the evolution of communications.
