BT Community Web Kit

We all know how important it is that people can find out about your organisation online, but for smaller charities, this is more easily said than done. Help is at hand with BT’s Community Web Kit, a refreshingly simple service that helps charities worldwide build, manage and update your own website – for free.

You’ll get free addresses, hosting, help desk and support, a choice of professional-looking templates with a range of colour themes, unlimited pages with space for 500 pictures and an easy-to-use page editor (or HTML editor, for those who know how to use it) to keep the content fresh. You could soon be online with BT Web Kit and fundraising with MyDonate (once you’ve registered).

Community Fibre Partnership

Our Community Fibre Partnership programme is offering grants, enabling charities to access Superfast and Ultrafast broadband.

Communities must have a school or other Ofsted (or equivalent body) to enable them to be upgraded to Superfast/Ultrafast. The school/educational body must be able to benefit from the solution (but do not have to actually take a Superfast/Ultrafast service). The grant can only be used to part fund a Community Fibre Partnership.

The grant is 75% of the cost of the Community Fibre Partnership cost, up to a maximum of £30k. Only one grant can be applied to each community.

The following criteria must be met:

  1. Communities must have an educational centre run by a local authority and that that local authority has an Ofsted registration. This is likely to be an outdoor activity centre.
  2. All communities with a charity:
  • Must have a Charities Commission registration
  • Be in good standing with the Charities Commission
  • Be in line with BT’s policy on charities and must NOT be political or religious. Schools with religious affiliations such as Church of England Primaries can be included if they have an Ofsted (or equivalent) registration
  • Complete the charities application form including specific questions about who they benefit
